Luton Airport Development

I see a firm of Architects, going by the name Weston Williamson, has drawn outline plans for the development of Luton Airport. Their proposal, which I think they have done on their own initiative and are not connected to the owners or operators of Luton Airport, looks like this.

Luton Airport with four new runways

I have thought for a long time that Luton Airport is the best place to build a new London Airport to replace Heathrow. The image shows the M1 in the foreground, the midland main line railway in blue and the A1(M) and Stevenage in the far distance.

The proposal shown above is nothing really new. The future development of air transport consultation of 2003 recognised the existing runway was inadequate. The document proposed a new 3000 metre runway to the south of the existing one.

More to come.
